Google and Apple sued by Ubisoft for Area F2

Area F2 is a new game that launched globally on 30th April 2020, on mobile devices. This game has almost similar features as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege(a Ubisoft Property) which is a game available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Thus, Google and Apple are being sued by Ubisoft for selling a ripoff of the Rainbow Six Seige.

Area F2 is a ripoff of Rainbow Six Siege?

Rainbow Six Siege is a popular shooter game that has around 55 million registered players. This game is played competitively and semi-competitively in many parts of the world. Ubisoft holds all the rights of Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft filed a complaint on Friday in the federal court in Los Angeles and stated:

Area F2,” created by Alibaba Group Holdings Ltd.’s Ejoy.com, is a “near carbon copy” of Rainbow Six: Siege, and that can’t be “seriously be disputed.

Virtually every aspect of AF2 is copied from R6S, from the operator selection screen to the final scoring screen, and everything in between.

Thus, now we know that Google and Apple have been sued by Ubisoft for selling a ripoff of Rainbow Six Siege. Reportedly, Ubisoft had priorly informed both Google and Apple about the copyrights that Ubisoft holds. But the companies refused to remove Area F2 from their stores.
